HOLIDAY Inn Hotel, Bengaluru
Mr. M R Jaishankar, CMD of Brigade addressed the young leaders of CREDAI at the evening get-together organized by CREDAI Bangalore Youth Wing held last Saturday at Holiday Inn, Race Course Road. He touched upon various topics during the session including leadership, management, real estate business, tips on management for future leaders, business cycles in real estate, what makes for a great product, policy changes in the real estate sector etc.
At the interactive session for the young real estate developers and leaders, many were excited to listen to the success story of Brigade Group.
While talking about the inception of Brigade Group, Mr. Jaishankar spoke about how he came from a large coffee plantation family from Chikmagaluru and did his degree in agriculture and thereafter MBA and started his career at a battery manufacturing firm. He also spoke about his journey in other businesses and the inception of Brigade Group in 1986 and how it has turned today to be a multi-city, multi-domain public listed company.
Discussing about tips for leadership and management, Mr. Jaishankar said ‘it is always important to find the right professionals and give them independence and power to operate but exercise enough control and balance. Also, hard work and involvement without over stretching and taking risks which one can absorb are the key elements to follow in a business.’
Talking about the real estate business and the policy changes he said, “Industry has seen multiple business life cycles and the current is the fourth one and the worst is over. Things are looking up and RERA has been both good and bad. DEMO has largely been a negative exercise. GST is a good development and the positives will only be felt moving forward. Real estate also requires a comprehensive change in terms of having more professionals on board”.
